Give YOURSELF some LOVE this Valentine’s day!
Oh, Valentines day. Why do you exclude so many loving souls? Just because we don’t have a date? Don’t waste all that perfectly good love, flip it backwards and create a little love for yourself! In fact, Valentines Day is the perfect excuse to take back the day and do whatever the hell makes YOU happy!
No date? Who Cares?
Show yourself some love – make it all about you – and rejoice in how loved you feel. You know the great thing about this? YOU are totally in control of how loved you feel. YOU have the power to choose how each day goes and the direction your life takes.
There are infinite ways you can show yourself some love, kindness and gratitude this Valentine’s Day, but here are some of my faves. They’re easy on the pocketbook, but pack a meaningful punch. The most important thing is to do what makes you feel like the smart, happy, beautiful, captivating, and vibrantly dirtypretty woman you are!
1. Take a long, luxurious bath.
Grab your book, a glass of wine, put on your favorite playlist and soak until you’re completely relaxed. Add a few drops of essential oils to the water for a truly decadent experience. I love rose + sandalwood, amber + jasmine, or try a little cedar wood, clary sage, and vanilla for a unique aromatic delight!
2. Give yourself a sweet, all natural facial.
It feels SO good to pamper your skin! And there’s nothing quite like catching your reflection in the mirror and seeing a bright, fresh faced beauty smiling back at you. I have plans to write a round up of my favorite all natural, DIY face scrubs and masks, but in the meantime here are a couple of my faves…
I love to start with a gentle exfoliating and cleansing scrub:
Combine equal parts Yogurt and Oatmeal. Let the concoction sit for a few minutes, then gently scrub your face. Feel free to let this sit on your skin like a mask – both the ingredients are great for fighting acne and redness while moisturizing and calming your skin!
Then bring it home with a heavenly turmeric mask that will leave your skin glowing!
1-3 tsp organic turmeric powder
1 TBSP organic yogurt (Greek works really well as it’s a little thicker.)
1 tsp raw, organic honey
1 tsp raw, organic extra-virgin coconut oil
Mix all the ingredients until they form a smooth paste. Apply to your clean, dry skin and let it sit for 20 minutes or so. ***Turmeric may temporarily stain your skin so use a dark towel when washing the mask off, sleep on an old pillow case, and be careful with your clothes!
3. Buy yourself some new jewelry that you feel truly amazing in.
It’s fun to buy a beautiful treat for yourself! Find something that inspires you to feel bold, beautiful and brave every time you wear it. I love buying jewelry just for little ol’ me because each time I wear it serves as a sweet reminder of the time I showed myself some love. 4. Go play outside!
Surround yourself in nature’s beauty. Breathe the fresh, clean air. It’s the perfect way to slow down and think of all the things you love and appreciate about yourself and all the things you’re grateful for. If you’re stressing about anything, getting outside is a great way to flip your switch and find inner calm and happiness. Go for a walk in the woods, bring a picnic to the beach, take a fun bike ride – whatever. It can be sitting outside on your deck! Just take a moment to be still, drink in the moment, and remind yourself of how unique and special you are.
5. Do some yoga & meditation.
Physical exercise is a great way to show yourself some love, and yoga has the special ability to open your heart, expand your sense of self, and ignite your inner fire. If you can’t get to the studio and practice with your friends, do a yoga class on your own at home!
